Michael Jackson did not go to his grave in Billie Jean fancy dress - but he was buried in a costume befitting his elaborate stage outfits, it has been claimed.

Ace Showbiz reports that the star - who died a year ago last week - was wearing full make-up and a costume inspired by all the outfits he wore during his glittering career as he was interred.

His wardrobe designers Dennis Tompkins, Michael Bush and Karen Faye told the news provider they teamed up to create his final look before his burial just outside Los Angeles in September 2009.

A crown was part of the ensemble, but his famous white glove was not, Tompkins said.

"To Michael, the glove was 'Billie Jean'. That represented that song. That's not Michael Jackson," he explained.

The singer's brothers Randy, Jackie Tito, Jermaine and Marlon famously wore a single white glove each while they acted as pallbearers for their famous sibling during his funeral.

His Billie Jean costume was fab, but for us, it has to be Thriller fancy dress if we're paying homage to the King of Pop.
