"I chose the fastest delivery option in the West, and you guys acted like a shot to get the Star Trek costumes over to us in record time, so thank you - you saved the day. Everyone recognized the character and we had a great time. Thank you! I would definitely order again from your site!"
Choosing a bit of nostalgic class from the first Star Trek series, her choice in costume tied in with a themed even she was attending:
"It was a 40th birthday with a Movie and Film Characters theme, having just watched the new Star Trek films a few weeks before, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to get my geek on!
We had everything from Power Rangers to Oompa Loompas and even the guy from Jaws half eaten by a shark! It was fun to see everyone dressed up, and it gave even the Golden Oldies a chance to come out of their greying shells and show a bit of nostalgic creativity. Needless to say, every costume was accompanied by a heavy alcohol cloak by the end of the evening!"
We're always overjoyed to hear when things work out, not least in nick of time. You can also get your hands on this great bit of TV history as an outfit. She was trying to think what to go as, in order to stand out from the other 40+ kids from the school and 'volunteered' for 'Hit-Girl'. The April 2013 win back the cost of your costume competition winner is Sophie Hopson. Sophie who is pictured here with her friend Aditya donned the Supergirl dress costume to celebrate her 18th birthday bash in London.
Sophie told us that, “The costume was perfect, I could not fault it nor Escapade for their rapid delivery and amazing quality of service. I had been searching all over the internet for weeks trying to find a costume where I'd look amazing in and I am so glad I bought this one, the material is of superb quality and unlike some fancy dress costumes this did not look tacky it was classy and sophisticated. I would 100% recommend this to any women who wants to feel and look amazing to a fancy dress event.”
Despite being a fan of the superman film franchise and the man of steel costumes Sophie went on to tell us that there was an alternative reason that she decided to wear this particular costume, “I have always loved the "S" on the chest of the bearer and because my Name is Sophie I found it rather fitting also I love the rich colours of the red, royal blue and gold really stylish and contemporary.”
Sophie also had a special entrance planned for her 18th on the night, “When I turned up to the venue I entered the hall in the flying superwoman pose with an arm out and everyone thought it was the best entrance of the night.”

Our first winner of 2013 is Will Pank who can be seen in the image to the right expertly tackling the Italian slopes in our Jack Skellington costume.
Will has been organizing a yearly ski holiday for a group of friends for the last five years and every year they pick a fancy dress theme for the slopes. In the past Will told us they have worn fancy dress for the following themes, “Pirates, animals, superheroes, uniforms, and now Disney.”
Will shared a fantastic review of his costume and of his past adventures with us.
I’ll never forget the year we did animals. We were in Austria, and as we started getting off the ski lift in 2s at the top, a little kid was there just reeling off our animals “Elephant... Cow... Reindeer... Rabbit...” It was very cute.
We always get a bit of attention, and that’s really the fun of it – everyone’s always very encouraging. This year a couple of Brits stopped us (we were in Sauze D’Oux in Italy) and asked us what it was all in aid of. We just said we did it every year, and they should try it – it’s really good fun, and you feel like a rockstar with all the photo requests you get! Best of all – it encourages you to be silly. And if you can’t be silly on holiday, then you’re not really on holiday.
I’ve attached a photo of us all at the end of the day – as you will see, there was a strong Winnie The Pooh theme going on...
Thanks again for the fab costume – I’ll be back!

December’s fancy dress competition winner is the Glen family who are seen here making three perfect peas in a pod in our peas costumes.
Becca, Andy and baby Jake donned the peas costume for a 2013 New Year’s Eve party in Norwich. Becca told us that it was her 12 week old son Jakes’ first NYE party and his first attempt at fancy dress as well. At Escapade we loved the pic and think that the entire family looked fantastic.
Becaa told us that, “The costumes were awesome and went down a treat. We wore them at a friends house in Norwich and we are known amongst our friends for being a bit silly with fancy dress. It seemed only right to dress Jake up too and the peas In Pod outfits were perfect. We got a few funny stairs from People when diving to the venue which was hilarious.”
Escapade would like to congratulate the Glen’s on being the final competition winner of 2012 and thank all of you for all of your fantastic photos and reviews during the year. They have provided us with some fantastic amusement and given us great feedback on our products. September's fancy dress competition winner is David Thompson from North Yorkshire. David donned the mobile phone costume at Catterick millitary base in North Yorkshire in order to raise awareness of the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.
When we told David that he was our lucky winner he filled us in on the initiative behind the costume, “We decided to do a road safety feature highlighting the dangers of using a mobile phone when driving. Rather than just have someone giving out leaflets we thought it would stand out more and be more memorable to have someone dressed as a mobile phone. It worked really well, was successful and will become a regular thing at work, different costumes for different issues.”
David went on to tell us that everyone they approached was receptive to the message they were trying to get across and that the costume, “It did baffle people coming into work seeing a giant phone handing out leaflets but it worked really well. The costume was comfortable to wear and added a bit of fun to the day. I'm actually looking forward to doing it again.”
October is upon us and so too is the most coveted costume winner of the year. This year for October we are going to change the rules slightly. Usually we use a random number generator to pick our monthly winners but at the end of October we will pick our favourite Halloween fancy dress costume out of all of our customer submissions. Good luck in the competition and we wish you all a Happy Halloween!
August 2012 costume competition winner is the lovely Suzanne Wiseberg who wore the Jessica Rabbit costume (The Silver Screen Sinsation) to the 2012 Wilderness festival.
The Wilderness festival is the brainchild of a collective of musicians, curators, film and literary artist who bring Cornbury Park in Oxford to life every year with a truly bespoke festival experience. During 2012 Future Cinema the organizers of the highly lauded Secret Cinema experience took over a large portion of the festival and turned it into a full interactive film experience.
During the festival it was Suzanne’s responsibility to introduce the film Who Framed Rodger Rabbit and she can be seen in the image singing the song that Jessica Rabbit sings during the movie, “Why Don’t You Do Right”. Suzanne told us that, “The dress was amazing and went down a storm. It fit perfectly and was really good quality for fancy dress. I was very pleased.”

If you want your chance to be August’s fancy dress competition winner check out how you can enter our monthly fancy dress competition.
June’s almighty fancy dress winner is John and his amazing costume comes in the form of Neptune / Poseidon. John’s girlfriend Katie modified our classic Perseus costume and added a creative mix of homemade accessories to pull off the god of the sea look in style..
The costume was worn at a party the couple threw to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. John’s partner Katie told us that, “It was nautical themed to tie in with the boat parade so Neptune God of Water seemed appropriate! As we had torrential rain for most of the day it tied in well.”
Katie made and added some amazing accessories to the Peruses costume which included: a Zeus wig and beard, a trident (which started out as a devils pitch fork) was painted and plastic seaweed was added to complete the effect. The crown was a child’s crown which was also painted and adorned with seashells. The cloak / toga was made from fabric bought at charity shop and the entire look was completed by the armour of the Peruses costume which Katy tells us, “Made the whole costume a bit more edgy and cool rather than just a costume of an old man with a beard and a fork!”
At Escapade we salute the couples amazing creativity and imagine that despite the rain it would have been an amazing party to be at. Katie told us that, “The costume had a great response from everyone - virtually everyone else came as pirates so this costume really stood out from the crowd. We had some great comments on Facebook after the event too.”
Wan’t your chance to be July’s fancy dress competition winner? Check out how to enter our monthly competition and take some great snaps in your outfits.
May’s fancy dress competition winner was Nick Spragg, who can be seen in the attached group photo donning the officially licensed Big Lebowski Dude bowling shirt. Nick wore the costume to his friend James Rodgers, Lebowski themed stag do.
Nick told us that James is obsessed with The Big Lebowski, and so his best man Adam organized a Lebowski themed do in Manchester before his big day. The creatively themed stag night included, “A cocktail making class, a big all you can eat meat buffet, ten pin bowling (of course), big £100 pirate ship-shaped cocktail troughs and a trip to the casino (which unfortunately we didn't quite get round to).”
When it came to picking who would wear what for fancy dress the responsibility fell on the best man Adam’s shoulders and Nick filled us on who wore what and why, “With regards fancy dress, Adam thought that he couldn't let James be The Dude as that would be too normal and not embarrassing enough (as the only longhair in the party that fell to me!) so we all chipped in to import a full Jesus purple jumpsuit and Adam made him a special glove and bought moustache and bandanna accessories. James was actually really looking forward to seeing what his outfit was going to be once he saw the rest of us. Maybe he wasn't as happy once we slotted him into it though.”
At Escapade we wish James Rodgers all the best for the future and salute Nick and the rest of his friends for organizing a fantastic stag, even if as Nick says, “It was a great do until the stag eventually went walkabout and somehow managed to get himself home, and, er, try and break into his own house. Needless to say it was at least a two day hangover for all involved, but very much worth it.” You can check out a video of James stag party here, and if you have a great fancy dress story or a fantastic picture find out how you can be next months fancy dress competition winner.
Aprils fancy dress competition winner is the fantastic Joe McDonald, seen here donning our Carrot Costume worn during a family Easter picnic holding his daughter in the Precious Pink Wabbit costume.
Joe made an extra special effort this Easter, and while his daughter did her best to steal the show by being abundantly adorable Joe told us that, “The look on peoples faces after the oohs at my daughter when they realised she was being supported by a seven foot carrot were great.”
Joe also provided us with some great feedback about the costume “The suit is very well made and has a hat inside for the stalks, which means they move when you move your head which is a nice touch. I was also very easy to put on and off as needed which was a must for me. Compared to the other carrot suits I looked at this was definitely was the best choice.”
We’ve received some amazing pictures from all of you as soon as we started this competition and will be putting a gallery together in the next few weeks of our favourites. Don’t forget to enter next months competition if you want your chance to win free fancy dress.
March 2012’s Win Back the Cost of Your Costume Competition Winner comes from the fantastic Dan Callaghan who wore the Oompa Loompa costume for his Year 2 class as they celebrated World Book Day with a Charlie & the Chocolate Factory themed celebration.
His class had just finished reading Charlie & the Chocolate factory & Dan donned the Umpa Lumpa costume to really get the kids in the spirit of World Book Day celebration. The children also donned World Book Day costumes to celebrate the day, which in recent years has become a British tradition.
Dan told us that the costume, “Really matched the original film version and was good value for money. The trousers were quite baggy which actually worked quite well as it gave the impression that I was shorter than I actually was! I can see this being pulled out again for other events.”
Thanks to all of you for sending in such amazing pictures and providing us with such a great collection of stories. If you would like your chance to become April’s fancy dress winner just enter our fancy dress competition for the chance to win back the cost of your costume.
February’s win back the cost of your costume competition winner is the lovely Salome Martinez from the Netherlands who wore the Sexy Supergirl Corset Costume during a night of festivities to celebrate the European and Dutch carnival season.
At Escapade we’ve long been jealous of the European carnival season which sees cities from Aalborg in Denmark to Venice in Italy (and everywhere in between) host huge city wide parades & parties decked out in a wide variety of carnival costumes.
Salome attended the carnival season in the Netherlands where months of preparation went into hosting the perfect party which runs from Friday – Tuesday in late February. Salome told us that the official parade is held on the Monday night, “Everyone is dressed in the craziest outfits and there is music and dancing in the streets and pibs from the afternoon to the early morning.” She told us that she chose the Superwoman costume because she thought it looked, “strong, sexy and powerful, and it was”.
The Netherland’s very own Supergirl told us that she had an amazing night, “I got a lot of compliments for the costume, it was great! Everybody wanted to buy me a drink and the my friend got almost harassed because they thought he was my boyfriend and got compliments and that he should be proud and happy, they all keep tapping him on the shoulder throughout the night. The pubs with carnaval are always overcrowded and they don’t stand back to let you pass through the crowd, but in this costume it was like the sea split open haha! It was really bizarre how many reactions I got, we had a great laugh about it all. Thank you again Escapade, so much for the great night!”

“Attached is a picture of me as a "young" miss piggy on my 2nd birthday on 30th December 1980 with my Kermit. Then all these years on I'm still with my Kermy celebrating New Years Eve on 31st December 2011.”
George and her husband saw out the end of 2011 in style and welcomed in 2012 with a pair of Muppets fancy dress costumes which with the release of their first feature film in over 20 years are set to be some of the hottest pop culture characters of 2012.
“We all decided to dress up as retro children’s TV characters/icons and we kept being pestered all night by people asking to have their pictures taken with us. We all felt like celebrities! We will definitely be back to visit you for future party outfits! Thanks Escapades! Kind regards & 2012 good wishes."

Very good quality, will last quite a few Christmases to come so no need to buy a new outfit for a while :-) Would fit many sizes and shapes - i'm 5'3 and fit me fine, also fit my dad who's 6'6 and pretty well-built. November’s fancy dress winner may have just well provided us with our favourite image of 2011… so far. It was sent in by Pete Lawley during a weekend in Derbyshire for a friends 50th birthday celebration appropriately entitled, ‘Gazfest’
Pete, seen in the picture, opted for the classic Shaun the sheep costume during the celebration where the group of friends had a 5 mile ramble through the countryside and a fancy dress party in the evening.
Pete told us that the costume, “Was worth the money just to order the pint of Black Sheep Bitter at the lunch stop with the words ‘I fancy a black sheep’!! Met a couple of collies on the walk I tell you they aren’t that brave when the sheep’s 6 foot tall !!! The weekend was a great success and everyone loved Shaun.”

October’s fantastic fancy dress costume competition winner is Joel Stratton from Haverhill, Suffolk. Joel wore the Wicked White Rabbit Costume during Halloween where he manically planted himself outside the house as a prop in a plot to scare passing trick or treaters.
The local trick or treaters didn’t stand a chance and Joel had an amazing night of fun in his costume. Joel’s mother Katrina told us that he was over the moon to be featured as October’s winner and will wear the costume many more times to come.
Katrina told us that it was very fun to hear all of the trick or treaters scream and that, “Joel absolutely loved his Halloween costume, it’s definitely the best we have seen, he had many comments on how cool it was and we passed on the escapade name as to where we got the costume from. If in future we need another themed costume I would come back to your site and order, very good service and costumes are brill.”

The August winner of our monthly “Win Back the Cost of Your Costume Competition” is the young Astronaut Titus Logan. Titus’s Mum Esther ordered the Childs Astronaut Costume for a party on the 13th of August.
Esther told us that when Titus donned the costume, “He really believed he was the real thing when he wore it , and I’m having a hard time getting him to take it off.” which is unsurprising as when he entered his party she told us the other kids reacted with a “Big Wow”.
Esther said that 6 year old Titus’s life’s ambition so far is, “To be a real astronaut and I hope that this first suit will bring back memories when he actually gets there.” At Escapade we also hope to see Titus in a real Astronaut suit in the not too distant future and wish him the best of luck making his dream come true! Who knows, by the time you hit twenty Titus technology may have caught up to the point that you could be the first man on Mars!

July’s winner of our monthly “Win Back the Cost of Your Costume Competition” is the fantastic Irma from the Netherlands who donned the Deluxe Red Queen costume from the new Alice in Wonderland film for the 2011 carnival season in Holland.
Irma choose the Queen of Hearts costume and dressed up with her boyfriend who went as the Mad Hatter as both were big fans of the costumes and characters from the Disney Alice in Wonderland Movie. The couple said that, “We got an amazing reaction from our costumes lots of people were taking pictures it was really worth the money and effort.”
While her costume looks amazing on its own at Escapade we are especially impressed with the amazing job that she has done applying her authentic character makeup, so we asked Irma if she could provide a few tips on how to get that perfect Queen of Hearts look, check out her advice below:
- Print a picture off from the Alice in Wonderland film of the Queen of Hearts character for inspiration.
- Use a good white make up and apply it thickly onto your entire face and neck.
- Use a small make up brush with light blue make up and eye shadow and make deep crescents extending from the eye lids to half way up the forehead to get the eyes effect.
- Paint your lips white with make up and use red lipstick and a brush to create a heart effect over the lips.
- Finish off the look with a Queen of Hearts wig.

June’s winner of the monthly “Win back the cost of your costume competition” is Andrew Nash from It's Partabulous, an events company that provides entertainment for 4 – 10 years olds. Andrew wore the Harry Potter costume for a special event. Read below about his fun filled day of “Pottering”.
“I wore my Escapade Harry Potter Costume for the first time to run the entertainment for a Harry Potter themed party for a new client in Hampstead this June. The birthday girl dressed as Hermione and her slightly older brother as Ron and I, Harry, stepped out onto the street to begin greeting party guests as they arrived.
The street leading up to the venue was cobbled so it looked like our very own version of Diagon Alley. The children arriving were spellbound when greeted by ‘the real’ Harry Potter and there begun our two hours of Hogwarts style entertainment with the children split into the Gryffindor and Slytherin Houses, with House Captains earning gold coins for their teams with the ultimate goal of winning the coveted ‘Golden Snitch’ trophy and prizes.
We started with a message from Dumbledore who asked the children to help find Harry’s Battle Wand which had been lost and we solved the series of clues and found the Wand which meant Voldemort wouldn’t come to spoil the party after a magic spell. We played Harry Potter character corners using physical characteristics and phrases from the well-known characters to earn gold coins, had a joke competition, a team challenge of Harry’s Hammer and a Quidditch tournament using balloons.
The 2 hours flew by and the kids and I had an absolute blast…so did the parents too who all joined in the Hokey Cokey at the end. The costume certainly helped me to provide the authentic magic that only Harry Potter could bring to a party to train these young witches and wizards. Thanks Escapade!”

May’s winner of our monthly “Win Back the Cost of Your Costume Competition” is the 14 month old Leander from Denmark. The young “Dipsy” donned the Children’s Teletubbies costume with the help of his mum Anita for the Danish Carnival season.
At Escapade we have long been envious of the amazing European carnival parties that don’t reach our shores here in the UK, and as Leander illustrates in the above image this is for good reason. Leander wore his Teletubbies costume for a local carnival, or as the Danish call it “Fastelavn”. He is holding a bat because he is in the process of carrying out a Danish carnival tradition of beating a barrel full of treats and sweets. The child that smashes the barrel is crowned king of the Fastelavn!
Leander’s mother Anita told us that he had a great day, “Leander was the youngest of the children, but he easily found out how to use the bat and with a little help he found his way to the candy. We all had a fun and memorable day with our children, but Leander was absolutely the cutest of them all in his Dipsy Costume.” The girls in the Escapade office, and the constant chorus of aww's every time this photo is seen, are willing to back this statement up!
